Architectural Structures

Architectural Structures takes inspiration from shape and form within Antoni Gaudi’s architecture in Barcelona to create commercial, woven fabric suitable for roman blinds at an upper market level. Influenced by Spring/Summer 2021 trends this collection focuses on using artificial colours and exaggerated forms combined with texture to create a bold, statement pieces for the home.

The inspiration behind this project was Antoni Gaudi's architecture in Barcelona.

Drawings/Paintings completed to further visual research and to continue development of inspiration for weaving.

Initial sampling included the use of cotton, boucle and loop yarn woven into fabric using the double cloth technique.

Simple visualisations of initial samples to illustrate the end use of the designs.

Two final fabrics woven in mercerised cotton with textural details in tape yarn and loop yarn.
